Frontiers Records announces the release of CRAZY LIXX second album “New Religion” on March 19th in Europe and April 6th in the UK

January 2010 – Crazy Lixx, one of the most exciting bands to come out of the Sleaze-Rock movement renaissance in Sweden, together with Crashdïet, Hardcore Superstar, Babylon Bombs and Vains of Jenna, are back with the release of the brand new album entitled New Religion.

Crazy Lixx was formed in 2002 in Malmö, Sweden. The core line-up up until the first album consisted of vocalist Danny Rexon (also known as Dirtchild Danny or D.C. Danny), guitarist Vic Zino, drummer Joél Cirera and bass player Loke Rivano. The current line-up features guitarist Andy Dawson in Vic Zino's place after the latter joined Hardcore Superstar.

Crazy Lixx debuted with Loud Minority in November 2007, an album that notwithstanding an underground release, received a great acclaim from the media and fans, reaching position #2 in the national Swedish Hard Rock chart.

The band spent all of 2008 and parts of 2009 touring like hell all over Europe and writing material for the new album, working hard to define their own music style which, even though was often compared to the likes of Def Leppard, KISS, Warrant and Skid Row, it has now matured and evolved in a personal and ultra-melodic interpretation of the Sleaze-Arena Hard Rock style.

The final result is New Religion, the new album which includes a dozen Hard Rock gems (out of over the double amount of songs written) recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, along with producer Chris Laney (Europe, Crashdïet, Candlemass).

We set out with one goal, and that was to beat the living s**t out of Loud Minority with these new songs, and if you ask me, we've beaten it black and blue. I can't wait to get these new songs played live, states singer Danny Rexon.

And thanks to killer anthems like My Medicine and such cuts as The Witching Hour, Children of the Cross, Rock and a Hard Place and 21 'til I Die (just to name a few), the guys can consider their mission accomplished and look at 2010 as a key year to break their talent on to the international markets!

New Religion includes the following tracks:
Rock and a Hard Place; My Medicine; 21 'Til I Die; Blame it on Love; Road to Babylon; Children of the Cross; The Witching Hour; Lock up Your Daughter; She's Mine; What of Our Love; Desert Bloom; Voodoo Woman.

CRAZY LIXX are:
Danny Rexon, vocals
Andy Dawson, guitars
Joél Cirera, drums
Loke Rivano, bass

AOR HEAVEN  - the releases in March 2010 :::

::: FM - Metropolis :::

The mighty FM return with a new album in classic FM style! 12 years after their split in 1995, at Nottingham Rock City on 27th October 2007, after considering (and declining) multiple previous approaches from the organisers of a melodic hard rock all-dayer called the Firefest, Merv, Steve, Pete, Andy and Jem finally played together again in public for the first time.

With stage two of the group’s career about to begin, they were disappointed to accept the resignation of Andy Barnett. However, with an exciting new guitarist on board these plans are now firmly back on target. Brought into the band at Steve Overland’s suggestion, Jim Kirkpatrick was already a huge fan of FM so it was an honor to accept the chance of joining a group whose records he loved. Kirkpatrick was blooded at a low-key gig at Wigan’s Winstanley College in March 2009. All too aware of the way others have fallen at the same hurdle, FM have taken their time in completing a comeback disc, ‘Metropolis’, which drops in March 2010

Line-Up: Steve Overland (vocals, guitars), Merv Goldsworthy (bass), Pete Jupp (Drums), Jem Davis (Keyboards), Jim Kirkpatrick (Guitars)

: SERPENTINE - A Touch Of Heaven :::

SERPENTINE was originally founded around award winning keyboard maestro, driving force and songwriter Gareth David Noon; lion-maned guitarist Christopher Gould and bassist Gareth Van Stone. Drawing their name from the mythical creatures and legends whose lore was passed down through the ages, their quest was to acquaint their peers with a genre of music that still resonates down the decades. The trio spent a lot of their time in the studio, working constantly to develop their songs into demos that would showcase the band’s true talent.

It was while making these demo’s that the band decided to complement the group with the experienced American vocalist Greg Flores, whose work they had heard via his previous band - the highly rated Kamera. Three short months later the fledgling recordings piqued the interest of Producer Chris Steinmetz whose credentials include Survivor, White Lion, Styx and Honeymoon Suite to name but a few.The initial results gained the band a great deal of interest,

Ultimately however working with a singer based in the US proved difficult and the quest for a new vocalist began. Enter the legendary Tony Mills of SHY and TNT fame .

Last Summer the group, having recruited the last pieces of the jigsaw in the shape of the prodigiously talented guitarist/vocalist John Clews and a drummer who can only be described as Keith Moon’s lost love-child - Charlie Skeggs, de-camped to M2 Studios in Wolverhampton. There under the guiding hand of Producer Mark V Stuart ( whose work with Magnum is well known ) together with whizz-kid Sheena Sear they produced a record that in October 2009 got the band signed to a worldwide deal with the German based AOR Heaven label.

Line-Up: Vocals - Tony Mills, Guitars - Christopher Gould, Guitars- John Clews, Keyboards - Gareth David Noon, Bass - Gareth Vanstone, Drums - Roy Millward

Lion Music release schedule update

Charly Sahona

Charly Sahona is best known as the guitarist in the modern French progressive metal band Venturia. Late 2008 saw Charly begin work on what has become his debut solo album entitled “Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos” set for release on February 19th 2010 on Lion Music. This 8 track release is built around heavy riffs, catchy vocal lines and crazy solos. Comparisons can be made if one was to fuse Dream Theater with Muse and 30 Seconds To Mars. This album offers a fresh sound, modern and direct, heavy and begs to be heard.

“Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos” sees Charly Sahona not only perform all guitar and keyboard duties but also step up to the microphone for the first time. The rest of the trio of musicians are Venturia band mates Diego Rapacchietti (Drums) and Thomas James-Potrel (Bass) who have created an ultra powerful power trio format. This 8 song collection sees Charly Sahona show again his abilities as a talented multi-instrumentalist and as a songwriter as well.

Lyrically, “Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos” is an introspection on the different reasons that pushes an artist to do everything in life to transcend their emotions, passions, fears, neurosis, libido and more into their art. It asks the questions of what pushes an artist to continue his unending quest of perfection. Sahona states, “It's a kind of psychoanalysis. My main influences come from the things I experienced in my personal life during the last 2 years: All the energy, the money, the time you give and spend into music at the expense of the loss of many different beautiful things you could have lived”.

The song writing for the album commenced after the release of the Venturia "Hybrid" album in 2008. The recording began in Switzerland in May 2009 with final mixing taking place in September 2009." More recently a video for “Relieved” has been released and made available on YouTube (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNTTSQUOwnE) and other media platforms with positive feedback.

"Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos” delivers an exceptionally high quality with immense crossover appeal.

MASTERMIND

Progressive rock band MASTERMIND is back with their first full length album of original music in almost a decade.

Since their formation in New Jersey by brothers Bill and Rich Berends in 1986 the band have become synonymous with delivering original sounding progressive rock with diverse arrangements and room for a healthy dose of experimentation. Once again the instrumentation is strong, Bill Berends guitar transcends numerous genres and combines with the keyboard interplay of Jens Johansson for a musically interesting package.

“Insomnia” is the band’s seventh album and marks the album debut of vocalist Tracy McShane. The tracks have been built around McShane’s powerful vocals and focus more on songs as opposed to over the top instrumental play of previous releases. As a result “Insomnia” is arguably the most accessible Mastermind album to date - yet a progression over the bands career can be heard continuing on “Insomnia” along with the elements considered to be Mastermind trademarks.

Bill Berends comments, “I don't want to keep writing the same symphony over & over again, so this seventh effort features a different approach and a different diva than the previous work. Basically we want to try new things stylistically and make a good album that would reach beyond the boundaries of progressive rock in the traditional sense. We started to move in that direction with "Angels", so "Insomnia" is something of an extension of that thinking. People tend to judge you on your last work, but what they don't seem to realize is trying something new doesn't negate our entire history, it just adds to it. We released two tracks from "Insomnia" on our own as the "Broken" EP single in 2005 and they were extremely well received, but it took some time to find a label that could see the potential since we don't sound like everyone else. We had several offers, but nothing I thought would really be to our benefit until we connected with Lion Music.”< br>
Lyrically the album focuses on observations and reflections from everyday life experiences that might drive one to sleeplessness. Bill Berends continues, “I lost a lot of sleep during the time spent making this album. The title came about after the recording was well under way, it just seemed appropriate. However, in another sense it is definitely a complete work that is best appreciated by listening to the entire album straight through. Certainly you can pick out individual songs to feature, and they do stand on their own, but I don't think you will "get it" until you hear the whole album in its entirety. In that respect it is a very big work, and perhaps that might be the 'progressive' element to it”.

Mastermind are a band happy to follow their own sound and have built a worldwide fan base which appreciates this outlook.

Metal Blade Records signs symphonic gothic metal band DIABULUS IN MUSICA!

Metal Blade Records has inked a deal with the outstanding Spanish newcomer DIABULUS IN MUSICA!

DIABULUS IN MUSICA is a female fronted Spanish metal band that started in 2006 and can be defined as symphonic metal with gothic elements, although their influences are quite diverse. The members of DIM are experienced young musicians who decided to leave other projects and commit themselves to this new band.

All of the members of DIM know each other from the local metal scene in Pamplona and wanted to work hard to create a different and serious project that could give expression to all their ideas. A goal they definitely accomplished with their upcoming debut album Secrets!

Comments DIABULUS IN MUSICA on the signing with Metal Blade: “We all feel really excited about the fact we got signed by Metal Blade! Being part of a label made up of true and open-minded metal-lovers makes us feel wrapped and even more motivated. We are aware of the fact that it´s not easy to find a proper label nowadays and when our manager Phil (http://www.2wild4.com/) told us that Metal Blade was interested we felt honored and happy they believe in our music. We are sure that all our common expectations will be fulfilled. We have plenty of ideas for future albums and it’s great to know that we can continue making good music and have a strong label behind us pushing the band worldwide to a new level! We can´t wait to get the album out and to start touring!”

”Symphonic metal with gothic elements is nothing you would expect from Metal Blade, would you? But then we always have our eyes and ears open and in the end it´s the quality that matters, not the style. DIABULUS IN MUSICA deliver the sort of quality everyone is looking for! Their songs are simply the best we have heard in this genre for years, they have a fantastic style and a great concept. It makes us happy giving this extremely talented band the chance to present themselves worldwide!” Andreas Reissnauer / Metal Blade Europe

BRAIN DRILL complete work on new album ‘Quantum Catastrophe’!

BRAIN DRILL has completed work on their follow up to 2008's tech death masterpiece, Apocalyptic Feasting. The band will again take fans on a mind-melting voyage through the boundaries of exactly how incredibly technical death metal can be. Quantum Catastrophe continues to push the band to their physical limits while somehow still exhibiting their trademark and infectious hook-laden riffs.

Guitarist Dylan Ruskin adds some insight into the musical process; “The album was definitely a huge accomplishment in the chronicling of the drill. The musical dynamics and skill level of everyone in the band have improved much more than the previous album. The songs are more technical and musically diverse but are also well balanced and catchy, including several bass breaks by Ivan Munguia and two songs written and recorded on guitar by him, entitled Awaiting Eminent Destruction and Mercy To None. Stay tuned for more.”

Quantum Catastrophe again features cover art by Par Olofsson (www.parolofsson.se). The over the top cover art (which will be released shortly) perfectly complements the nearly unbelievable musicianship present on the record. Fans can get a taste of what the new material is like, as well as new drummer Ron Casey, on a recently uploaded youtube video. In the video, Dylan and Ron play the new track, Monumental Failure. Check it out HERE <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnTJ7cdgM0g> .

Vocalist Steve Rathjen explains the concept behind Quantum Catastrophe; “Universal decimation (black holes, galactic cosmic radiation), pandemic disease and zombie re-awakenings - mankind is entering an age of mass speculation as foreseen by numerous ancient cultures. Space to all humanity still primarily remains a mystery even in our days of immense technological advancements. We know this void is filled with infinite extremities which could occur at any instant; easily decimating all habitations. We also know our planet has fulfilled these mass extinctions time and again centuries in the past. The question which remains, are we due for another apocalyptic transition?”

 BRAIN DRILL is:
Dylan Ruskin - guitar
 Steve Rathjen - vocals
 Ivan Munguia - bass
 Ron Casey - drums

ARMORED SAINT posts first single and artwork for new album, “La Raza”!

ARMORED SAINT has unveiled the cover art and the first single from their first new album since 2001, La Raza! The album's foundation was laid back in 2008 when Joey Vera and John Bush began writing new material for what would become La Raza and the album was completed in December at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA. The album was produced by bassist Joey Vera, and engineered by Bryan Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss. Recording was mostly done with analog equipment and the final album mix was delivered on 1 inch tape. This gives La Raza the most organic sound as possible. Fans can finally hear the first single, Left Hook From Right Field! Click HERE
http://www.myspace.com/metalbladeeurope  to check it out!

To complete the package, the band employed photographer Stephanie Cabral and Metal Blade's own Brian Ames. Joey Vera comments further, “Metal Blade is doing a really cool digi pack package for us. We felt like the city of Los Angeles is such a big part of our fabric that we wanted to use that in the design of the artwork. So with the help of our good friend and photographer Stephanie Cabral and Brian Ames from the Metal Blade art department, we came up with a really cool package that represents our band and the music on this record. We also wanted to incorporate a “green” action by leaving out the plastic CD tray and using recycled paper. The result is a classy and poignant package.”

La Raza will be available in the UK on March, 15th!

DAWN OF ASHES teams up with special FX group ADI (Amalgamated Dynamics Inc) for outfit and mask designs!

Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce it has inked a deal with the Los Angeles horror inspired black/death metal band DAWN OF ASHES. DAWN OF ASHES is a band whose passion for intense and macabre imagery, music, and live performances will soon be seen by the metal masses when Genocide Chapters is unleashed in late spring/summer 2010. The band is currently gearing up to enter the studio to record their Metal Blade debut with producer Fred Archambault, known for his work with Avenged Sevenfold, Death By Stereo, Eighteen Visions, and many more. Handling the cover art for Genocide Chapters is
Machine-Room (My Dying Bride).

ADI is the special effects company that created the creatures and special effects for movies like: Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien vs. Predator 1 and Requiem, Star Ship Troopers, Tremors and other films. This was amazing news for the band and should make DOA's theatrical look even more interesting and grotesque.

"We are very honored to become a part of such a legendary Metal label. We cannot wait to see what this will do for the progression of the band's career. This is a new level for DAWN OF ASHES and we are very excited to become part of the Metal Blade family" comments DAWN OF ASHES.

“DAWN OF ASHES = DOA, BRUTAL, HORRIFIC, HYPNOTIC, VICIOUS Heavy Metal that is the soundtrack for the Apocalypse. With Tim Smith of Blood Company managing and Fred Archambault handling the recording duties, Metal Blade is ecstatic to be part of this team” comments Metal Blade's Michael Faley.

BIO:
Every nightmare is painted by a vision that is so terrifying and disturbing that only the imagination of pure violence can give a new form to eternal damnation. DAWN OF ASHES gave meaning to this in the year of 2001 by Kristof Bathory, the mastermind behind the sounds and visions of horror, hatred, and suffering. The name was created to reflect upon the birth of death and failure.

In 2005, DOA independently released their first demo entitled ‘Sacred Fever'. This release caught the eyes and ears of the German label NoiTekk and shortly after DOA were asked to sign to the label. A few months later, the U.S. label COP International, as well as Russian label Gravitor, took notice to DOA and asked them to join their rosters them as well.

In September of 2006, their debut album entitled ‘In the Acts of Violence' was unleashed upon the world. The brutal debut captivated the dark hearts and minds of many. It was at this point that DOA began to grow a significant fan base, which set the band on its path to success.

In October of 2007, DOA released their second full length album entitled ‘The Crypt Injection'. The album displayed much growth and transformation in DOA's dark sound and substance. Along with the studio album, DOA also created a music video for their song "Torture Device", which set much anticipation for the album's long awaited release. ‘The Crypt Injection' aided in DOA gathering more fans, publicity, and attention from the masses.

Since DOA was formed, the band has made transitions in line-ups and sound to create their ideal artistic outlet. DOA did so by adding additional members and placing the element of live guitars and drums into the music, taking the group from the Industrial scene into the Metal scene. With DOA's new, solid line-up, the next installment from DOA will summon new sights and sounds among the world with a Black/Melodic Death Metal sound. It is now time for DAWN OF ASHES to enhance the brutality, so be prepared for more to come as the ashes will never rest upon the weak; the evil within this group will never die!

DAWN OF ASHES is:
Kristof Bathory (Horrid screams / Keyboards)
Volkar Kael (Guitar)
Othuum (Bass guitar)
Bahemoth (Keyboards)
Orias (Drums)

EDGUY will support the SCORPIONS as special guest on their upcoming tour of Germany.

Frontman Tobias Sammet comments:
“It is a real big honour for us to have been invited by the biggest German Rockband ever to be the special guest on their German tour. The SCORPIONS have paved the way for all German bands, no matter if some bands want to admit it or not. They were the first band to break into all international markets with a bang and they underlined their larger-than-life status with countless great albums, mega hits and amazing shows. I will always remember a common show we played in Bulgaria when I was watching their entire set from the side of the stage and how impressed I was by their energy and enthusiasm for playing. I was honoured and impressed by Klaus’ vocal performance when he recorded some guest vocals for my forthcoming AVANTASIA album. He is one of the best and most unique Rock singers the world will ever see. From a fan’s point of view it fills us with sadness to know that this will be the last chance for us to share the stage but as a band we feel honoured and we are looking forward to celebrating with them on their farewell tour and share the stage one last time. And as a fan I am especially looking forward to be able to see their show from the side of the stage every night. See you all on tour!”

Frontiers Records to release TREAT brand new reunion album "Coup De Grace" on March 19th in Europe and April 6th in the USA.

January 2010 - Twenty-five years after the release of their sensational debut album "Scratch and Bite" and eighteen year since their last self-titled studio album saw the light of day, Swedish melodic rock legends Treat are out to get you on the run again!

"Coup de Grace" is the album that every melodic rock fan hoped for but never dared to dream of: a classic rock masterpiece with thunderous guitars, powerful yet seductive melodies and hook-laden songs, all wrapped up in a  production that combines the best of  "now" and "then".

It´s been twenty-five years in the making, says guitarist and main songwriter Anders Wikström. Since day one I knew we had this album in us. The ideas were there. The vision. But it took us this long to find the right tools to make it all come true. It took five albums, millions of miles on the road, a thirteen year long break and a whole new perspective on life to get it right. In hindsight it now seems that everything we´ve done since we formed the band has been pointing in one direction. Of course we didn´t know it back then, but this is what we aimed for all along, says Anders.

So here we are, in 2010 Treat is releasing their sixth album, not counting the best of "Weapons of Choice", released when the band reformed in 2006. "Coup de Grace" is a collection of songs that is so much more than just kick-ass-sing-along-rock´n´roll-songs. They are more a sort of mini autobiographies from five grown men reflecting on life. Back then, in the 80´s, it was  rock´n´roll twenty-four-seven: big guitars, big choruses, big hair, babes and booze.

This album is a statement of who we are today, explains Anders Wikström. We're older. yeah, perhaps even wiser. We look at our lives and the world around us in a different way. I wanted to reflect that in  our lyrics. I mean, we're all fathers and we raise our kids in a world that's in a turmoil. There's a lot of pressures, fears and tough expectations. The rat race is spinning out of control, but everybody expect you to be happy. The big guitars are still there and became even bigger. The big choruses. The big sound. The hair. yeah, well, you know: they're in the mid forties. Booze? Nah. Babes? Yeah. Their wives and girlfriends. The mothers of their kids. But there's as new "big" in the Treat equation: the courage to let their fears, worries and views on both politics and the modern life that wears us all down reflect in the lyrics. It was the natural thing to do. I mean, life is so much more than rock´n´roll all night and party every day, says Wikström.

But make no mistakes: Treat is a rock´n´roll brigade. A force of nature. Today even stronger and more powerful than ever. From the opening somewhat haunting prelude, that sets the tone of the album, the right-in-your face rock´n´roll grenade The war is over, the soul searching Paper tiger to the trademark power ballad A life to die for and  Roar, where the band manages to make an epic with a hit feeling, Treat is telling all the world that they're back. Bigger, better and bolder.

We got back together in 2006 because we all missed playing together. We released a compilation album and did a tour, but we weren't sure what to do next. In 2008 we all felt that we had an album to do, continues Wikström. I started demoing songs and in May 2009 we were ready to hit the studio.

Produced and recorded in Stockholm, Sweden by Anders Wikström, partly together with keyboard player Patrick Appelgren, "Coup de Grace", is an album that's going to stand out in a musical climate where mediocrity and superficiality are an asset but where talent, musicianship and dedication is not required to make the charts.

"Coup de Grace" includes the following tracks:
Prelude - Coup de Grace; The War Is Over; All In, Paper Tiger; Roar; A Life To Die For; Tangled Up; Skies of Mongolia; Heaven Can Wait; I'm Not Runnin'; No Way Without You; We Own The Night; All For Love; Breathless.

This is our footprint in the history of rock´n´roll, concludes Anders Wikström. We can proudly say that this is the album we would like to show our grandkids!

TREAT is ANDERS WIKSTRÖM (guitars and backing vocals), ROBERT ERNLUND (lead vocals), JAMIE BORGER (drums), NALLE PÅHLSSON (bass and backing vocals) and PATRICK APPELGREN (keyboards/guitar and backing vocals)

WITH A reputation forged in fire, brimstone and magic, Killing Joke have long been one of rock’s most iconic & influential outfits.

Now, 30 years since first bonding in blood, the original line-up of Jaz Coleman (vocals), Geordie (guitar), Youth (bass) and Paul Ferguson (drums) are set to release their 13th studio album – the first fruits of a new worldwide deal with the Spinefarm Records label.

Set for release in April 2010, this latest set of recordings – titled ‘Killing Joke 13: Feast Of Fools’ – has seen the aforementioned musicians sharing studio space (in London & Prague) for the first time in 27 years, having already road-tested their relationship with sold-out shows around the world, kicking off in Tokyo last Autumn.

OVER THE years, the band members have chosen to develop their talents in a variety of ways: triple Grammy winner Jaz Coleman, for instance, has established an international reputation working with some of the world’s greatest symphony orchestras, whilst Martin ‘Youth’ Glover has become one of the UK’s most celebrated producers, supervising albums from the Verve & Primal Scream amongst others, as well as achieving major success as one half of highly-regarded duo, The Orb.

Covered by Metallica, Foo Fighters and more, Killing Joke’s apocalyptic vision continues to draw praise from such high-profile supporters as Jimmy Page and Billy Corgan, and the band’s considerable musical legacy can be heard in the works of Nirvana, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails and the like – artists whose rise to fame never saw them cutting ties with the underground/alternative scene.

Once described by Paul Ferguson as ‘the sound of the earth vomiting’, Killing Joke are now poised to take their music of resistance to a whole new level, both in the studio and on the road.

As ever, the journey won’t be easily forgotten… whether those involved wish to do so or not!

SIX FEET UNDER Graveyard Classics 3 out now! METALLIAC cover posted online!

Tampa, FL's kings of groove laden Death Metal Six Feet Under are back with their 3rd installment of the band's cover series, ‘Graveyard Classics 3', out now on Metal Blade Records! ‘Graveyard Classics 3' was recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa, FL, was mixed at Audiohammer Studios by Mark Lewis, and was produced by Chris Barnes.

Here's what the godfather of gore and death Chris Barnes has to say about the band's latest chapter in the Graveyard Classics chain:

“We went about picking the tracks for this installment of Graveyard Classics by really just trying to search out songs from early on in our musical upbringing, as well as tracks from when we were just fans of heavy music, before we started playing in a band. Once again choosing songs that have really stuck with us over the years, also choosing the songs that we felt would sound interesting when played in the SFU ‘death groove' style.

Through the years of doing covers, many of our fans have inquired about us covering a Slayer or a Metallica song. It was really something we wanted to do for some time, those two bands being our biggest influences, as well as influencing a generation of death metal musicians.

To sum it up…this is a tribute to honor the great teachers that have influenced us as well as the world of metal we all belong to. We hope our fans will enjoy.“

Track listing for ‘Graveyard Classics 3':
1. A Dangerous Meeting - Mercyful Fate
2. Metal on Metal - Anvil
3. The Frayed Ends of Sanity - Metallica
4. At Dawn They Sleep - Slayer
5. Not Fragile - BTO
6. On Fire -Van Halen
7. Pounding Metal - Exciter
8. Destroyer - Twisted Sister
9. Psychotherapy - The Ramones
10. Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck – Prong

Tygers Of Pan Tang Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of "Wildcat" Album

2010 will see the Tygers of Pan Tang celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the `Wildcat` album, the bands first and most iconic recording. The album was released during the hay-day of the NWoBHM movement and captures the real spirit of the music scene in the UK in 1980. The band at the time was a young four piece and after charting in the UK top forty albums at No 15 this album proved to be the springboard for three more albums in two years with various line-ups until the band decided to disband in 1983.

Robb Weir who originally formed the band in 1978 has resurrected the Tygers with a new line-up culminating in the release of the album `Animal Instinct` in 2008 to worldwide critical acclaim. As 'Wildcat' is very close to Robbs heart we have decided to pick his top five tracks and re-record these to celebrate and remind the fans of the quality of the album which may have been long forgotten.

The songs will be re-arranged to utilise modern technology and recorded by the 2010 line-up:-

Rob Weir - Guitars
Dean Robertson - Guitars
Brian West - Bass
Craig Ellis - Drums
Iacopo Meille - Vocals

The songs to be included are:-

Euthanasia
Slaves to Freedom
Suzy Smiled
Don't Touch Me There
Wildcat

The Five track EP will be recorded late January and be available for pre-sale exclusively from the Tygers website/shop in February www.tygersofpantang .com

We expect to dispatch the EP to buyers in early March 2010

This will be a Limited Edition of 1000 copies, have new artwork and will only be available from the website and Live shows. We will also be looking at some commemorative shirts which will also be sold via the website from March onwards.

For all enquiries please contact the Tygers of Pan Tang via the website contact page.

Thank you for your continued support as always

Jason Bonham, Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa and Derek Sherinian.announce Black Country

A new super group has been formed with Jason Bonham, Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa and Derek Sherinian. They are calling themselves Black Country, taking their name from the industrial area in England from which Bonham and Hughes both hail. The band is currently in the studio with producer Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin) cutting tracks for an upcoming album to be released in late 2010 or early 2011.
With Bonham (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) on drums, Sherinian (Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper) on keyboards, Hughes (Deep Purple, Trapeze) on bass and vocals and Bonamassa on guitar and vocals, the band already has six tracks cut. The next recording session will take place in March and the band hopes to finish recording in early April. Shirley made the announcement on his website: "So there it is folks - the cat is out the bag! This is Black Country. The songs are all original and what a lineup. They are all the very best players in the world, for my money!"

Shirley added, "Jason Bonham is a totally unique drummer and a supreme, yet oh-so-tasty powerhouse. Derek Sherinian is super versatile, and is playing mostly overdriven Hammond organ in this ensemble and is the color on the palette. Glenn Hughes plays bass and sings with a range very, very few can even get close to, and Joe Bonamassa, perhaps the best Blues Rock guitarist around, plays hard riffing guitar as well as adding his signature vocals alongside Glenn. You'll just have to wait - we're planning to get this out late summer, and it's promising to be phenomenal!"

Recently named "The Blues Rock Titan" by Guitar World Magazine, Bonamassa's new solo album, Black Rock, will be arriving March 23, 2010. Produced by Shirley, who has produced Bonamassa's last six solo albums, it will be released on Bonamassa's own J&R Adventures label.

Devin Townsend Faces His Addiction, Partners Up With Acclaimed Vocalist
Anneke van Giersbergen (ex- The Gathering) and Issues Update On 2010 Touring Plans....
 ....

One of metal’s most intriguing and ominous figures is without a doubt the overly talented Devin Townsend, who mysteriously disappeared off the grid after completing Ozzfest 2005 with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD. The singer has since focused his efforts on a greatly ambitious new endeavor under the DTP (Devin Townsend Project) moniker. The new mind-blowing disasterpiece takes the man’s genius to unprecedented levels as he embarked on a massive 4-part album series, which kicked off with Ki and is followed up with the Addicted album that is set for a Nov. 17th release throughout North America via Inside Out Music..... ....

In a world of increasing conformity and musical banality, Devin Townsend is among the few real personalities who have character, charisma and surprising innovative creativity. Click on the link below to stream a new clip that perfectly captures Townsend’s stunning musical prowess.
http://tothestage.com/MediaDetail.PAGE?ActiveID=1142&query=devin%20townsend&MediaId=8045.... ....

Townsend comments: “Hey folks, Dev here with the update for the second installment of the DTP (Devin Townsend Project). We are just readying the release of album 2, Addicted, so here are a few brief words: With Ki, I kind of strode out in uncharted territories for myself musically, and loved the experience, but during the course of writing this four record project, it was inevitable that I would end up writing a selection of tunes that were very much in line with my back catalogue. This group of songs is the second record in the series, and it is called Addicted..... ....

“Musically, Addicted is along the lines of the big, wall of sound hard rock/heavy metal of Ocean Machine and Accelerated Evolution (even Physicist at points). It is a very direct and 'to the point' album with an emphasis on groove and the chorus. In the past, lots of my records end up taking a kind of Pink Floyd-ish route (between song meandering, etc.) Addicted is really simple: 11 rocking songs with no bullshit..... ....

“I wanted to make a record that was heavy, without being dark or depressing. When I got into metal it was for the energy behind it, but somewhere along the way that energy started getting really negative. In music right now, there's a ton of heavy bands that are really depressing to listen to loudly. I wanted to make a record without any real deep metaphor on the surface. Something that sounds good, has a good beat and a positive feeling. It is still heavy as-all-get-out, but I think there's a differentiation to be made between being 'peaceful,’ and being peaceful but wanting to celebrate loud, crushing music..... ....

“The vocal duties on this record are handled by myself and Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering). I wanted to have male and female vocals kind of 'tell the story' so to speak. It's an honor to work with her and she has a lovely, lovely energy. The other musicians on this record are Ryan Van Poederooyen on drums, Brian Waddell on bass and Mark Cimino on guitars..... ....

“I absolutely love this record and it affects me in a way that I wasn't prepared for. It's a fully rocking album of optimism. If you just want to 'play it loud' without any crazy metaphor, this album might be for you..... ....

“I have been rehearsing with a new band and we will start touring in early 2010, representing all the back catalogue of solo material, from Ki, Addicted, Physicist, Ziltoid, Terria, Ocean Machine, DTB, Infinity, etc. I have some big plans for this and rehearsals are sounding amazing. The touring entity will be called 'Devin Townsend' and is essentially a way for me to get out there and interact again and showcase 15 years of music that never really got its fair shake.

“I will also start working on the fourth record Deconstruction in Los Angeles this October and have some great plans for that (and btw, THAT is a heavy record with a lot of metaphor). So, I hope you will enjoy Addicted. The reason that Addicted exists is maybe a little deeper than what the record sounds like up front. But up front, it kind of states:  'Life is tough, the world can be an ugly place...so let’s forget about the dramas and ROCK - here's some heavy guitars, big choruses and killer beats.”...... ..

Devin Townsend is back and has crafted the offerings of his much heralded career. Fans of hard rock, metal and overall interesting music take note because this material is going to touch your soul on multiple levels. ....

Devin Townsend Project Hits The Road With BTBAM and Cynic Early 2010;
New Track Posted Online....
 ....

Devin Townsend triumphantly returns with a greatly ambitious new endeavor under the DTP (Devin Townsend Project) moniker. The new, mind-blowing disasterpiece takes the man’s genius to unprecedented levels as he embarks on a massive 4-part album series, which kicked off with Ki and is followed up with the Addicted album that is set for a Nov. 17th release throughout North America via Inside Out Music.....

 ....

Townsend, easily one of metal’s most intriguing, ominous and immensely talented figures is taking this project to the masses as he will join genre visionaries Between The Buried and Me, Cynic and Scale The Summit for a massive North American trek which kicks off Jan 8th.  The tour dates are below, and also be sure to head over to http://www.myspace.com/devintownsenddtb to crank the very interesting “Bend It Like Bender” track.".... ....

Townsend states: “Oh ok...here it is. ‘Bend It Like Bender'

(You! ...in the Nasum shirt!  ...look away!!!)

I know...I know...it's a pretty bippy-boppy-Euro-type dance track, but you know? Guilty as charged when it comes to loving that stuff. I remember hearing The Vengaboys 'We Like To Party' back when it came out and it nearly brought me to tears (I was cutting onions at the time...) something about EASY, FUN music that takes very little effort to enjoy...or detest as the case may well end up being .

So yeah, I wrote a song like that. ppppttthhhhhhhhhpppppppphhhhhhhh.....

I'm working on album three of the DTP quartet right now, Deconstruction.  And it's such brained out, complicated nonsense, that while I was writing it (all 4 albums were written during the same period) I remember just finishing the track 'Traestorz' (Deconstruction) and my brain was reeling. Super complicated metal madness, and I was like, 'ENOUGH!!!' and threw my lube down in revulsion and laid into Bender with a 'phat ass beat' y'all.

'We are one and we have found they only wanted you around
To hold it down, so hold your ground,
We won't be here forever!
We are young and we have fun and all we've found in being around is 'All and all' and 'Holy cows'
While things keep getting heavy!
Hang on to your man and
Hang on to your woman and
HANG ON!!!'

What’s it about? Ah, indeed young knave, gather ye round and I shall despense the benevolent meaning of this cosmic connundrum upon thee: ready..?

It's a play on the title 'Bend It Like Beckham' and the robot from Futurama named 'Bender', because he's into partying, and the record’s called 'Addicted.’ Yup. Oh...and 'Bender' and 'Beckham' both start with the letter 'B'.

Anneke VanGeirbergen ladies and Germs...Anneke VanGeirbergen. Did I mention I love Abba as well? Well I do. AND we're still metal.

Again, all 4 records were written together...which was good for me, because when I would get all antsy with Ki, I would unload with Deconstruction, then get offended by my own pretension and rock some good vibes with Addicted, then when I would feel like it was ALL stupid, I'd write for Ghost, and make some dead country voices.

So yeah, enjoy. Or don't. I do.

Lastly, There's a time and a place for fat, shirtless men with head tattoos to bump into each other and yell, and a time and a place for women to move like the beautiful creatures they are.”

EPICA Keyboardist To Sit Out Upcoming North American Tour, KAMELOT's Oliver Palotai Steps In

"Epica's North-American leg of the Design Your Universe Tour with THREAT SIGNAL and BLACKGUARD will start next week. Coen (Janssen / keyboards) will not be joining Epica because of personal reasons. He will be replaced by Oliver Palotai (KAMELOT, SONS OF SEASONS, DORO).

A statement from Coen can be read below.

The pre-sales are going very well! Virginia, NYC, Montreal and Worcester are on their way to sell out! If you don't have your tickets yet, be sure to check out www.epica.nl for tickets with no shipping costs and the lowest service charges anywhere. We hope to see you all on the road!"

Janssen's statement:

"Dear Fans,

I wanted to inform you all about the fact that I will not be joining Epica on the road during the North-American leg of the Design Your Universe tour. Having been in the band from the start and never having missed a single show made this a very hard decision, but a decision I had to make.

I feel blessed being in a band like Epica, with whom I can make the music I like, play great shows all over the world, meet a lot of people and live the rock & roll life. However, if I had to name one negative thing, it would be combining "work" with my private life. It is always a struggle which of the two comes first. As you probably agree, most of the times the band wins. That is why you are always on the road when it's your girlfriend's birthday or your parents' anniversary. Luckily for me the homefront is, and has always been, very supportive of me and they let me do whatever needs to be done to get Epica to a higher level. This time however, I have to choose the other way.

As you might have heard I am getting married to my girlfriend Linda in April of this year. Having released Design Your Universe last October and basicly having been on the road promoting the album ever since, we found ourselves lacking the time to get everything arranged properly. Because Epica's schedule is very tight, there was also no room anymore to 'live towards the moment' together that should be one of the most important days of our lives. I gave this a lot of thought and finally have decided that I had to choose for the homefront for once.

Fortunately, the band reacted very positive towards my decision and a replacement was found pretty easily. I'm very honoured that Oliver Palotai (Kamelot, Sons Of Seasons, Doro) will guard the Epica keys during the tour. As I know Oliver, I am sure he will do his utmost to give the crowd what it needs and even make Epica a bit more handsome at the same time...

I hope that my guys and girl will have a lot of fun in the USA and Canada and I will follow their adventures closely. I was really looking forward to rock the States, see the fans and have breakfast at McDonald's with Willem. I'll surely miss being on stage with the guys and I wish them all the success they need!!

See you all next tour!"

Cheers,
Coen

PRIMORDIAL to release first ever DVD “All Empires Fall”! First teaser available!

Irish Pagan masters PRIMORDIAL will release their first ever DVD All Empires Fall on February, 28th / March, 1st 2010 via Metal Blade in Europe! It´ll be a DVD-set containing two discs full of quality material!

Disc 1 is the centrepiece of the DVD and features a full PRIMORDIAL headline show recorded live on the 24th of January, 2009 in their hometown of Dublin, Ireland. The show was filmed with five cameras and has an exceptional vintage look due to the hard work in post production. A truly impressive and powerful live gig, exciting from start to finish in front of die hard PRIMORDIAL audience and a perfect sound track that is available in stereo and 5.1!

Disc 2 features live clips from the bands appearances at Ragnarok Festival (Germany), Hove Festival (Norway) and Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) in 2008. The second disc also features a band documentary with all the inside stories and loads of ancient footage from the early stages of the band. The documentary has a playing time of approx. 60 minutes. Interviews with all band members and rehearsal footage complete the second disc of the set!

The special Deluxe version of All Empires Fall features expanded packaging and two additional audio CDs featuring the Dublin show!

Here´s what singer A.A. Nemtheanga has to say about All Empires Fall:
“…the gods have been working hard dogging the release of our first dvd 'All Empires Fall' but finally we are ready to prevail. The DVD will contain our Dublin show from last year, a documentary and bonus material from recent festivals. The special edition will contain the audio discs of the Dublin show, so you can hear how some old classics are played now, some almost two decades after writing. So how does it look? The simple answer is and without exaggeration possibly one of the best Metal live shows I've ever seen. We filmed it on analog reels, cut it with frightening pace and mixed it up with some very unconventional camera angles. It has the feel of a classic show from the late 70s not the clean, clinical digital vacuum most modern shows are filmed in. We also invested a lot of time, money and effort so don't expect one of those free recordings most festivals and soundstages offer. As normal we didn't do anything conventionally so there are no boring balcony stills or side of stage montages. No overdubs, auto tuning or drop ins we are proud that 'All Empires Fall' shows us as we are and as a Primordial show always is. Blood and thunder and no quarter given from start to finish…”

Along with the new lineup, a new album and tour is in the works for later this spring.

"We already have a few songs finished for the new album,” Westlake reports. “We will start writing the remaining songs with our new lineup in February."

While everyone is keeping the new line-up top secret, Westlake would confirm that Hydrogyn will be going back to a five-piece group. “Our fans will be totally blown away with the new line up and the new album,” he promised.

AETERNAM reveals artwork + track listing for ‘Disciples Of The Unseen'!

Quebec City's AETERNAM is gearing up to finally release their hotly anticipated debut album on February 12th/15th, 2010! ‘Disciples Of The Unseen' is a 10 track foray into an atmospheric, aggressive, melodic and Egyptian-tinged death metal. The album was produced by mastermind JeF Fortin (Neuraxis, The Last Felony) and is for fans of Nile, Melechesh, Behemoth and even earlier Trivium - any metal head will definitely find something to sink their teeth into here.

On top of the hook-laden guitar harmonies and solos are vocalist/guitarist Achraf Loudiy's occasional clean vocal melodies; they provide a tasteful palate cleanser and provide an alternative for those who tire quickly from traditional death metal growls. This is particularly evident on the band's first single, ‘The Coronation Of Seth' (listen HERE).

Live footage from AETERNAM's show supporting Behemoth on June 29th of this year is currently up on their youtube page HERE. The live track is ‘Angel Horned' and has one of the best guitar solos on the album!

‘Disciples Of The Unseen' track listing:
1. Ars Almadel
2. Angel Horned
3. Esoteric Formulae
4. The Coronation Of Seth
5. Hamunaptra
6. Iteru
7. Goddess Of Masr
8. Ouroboros
9. Circle In Flames
10. Through The Eyes Of Ea

DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA Welcome Ex-THERION Drummer Petter Karlsson To The Fold

Sweden's DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA have issued the following update:

"Andreas has decided to step down as the drummer of D:S:O due to personal reasons and we wish him the best in his future musical endeavors.

The good news is that we have found a replacement and would like to say welcome to Petter Karlsson (ex-THERION, HOLOCOASTER) as a full time member of D:S:O. We've only had one rehearsal together so far but we were all blown away by his drumming so check him out on his myspace
here

Petter is also a skilled songwriter so it will be interesting to see what he can add to the already twisted process of making a D:S:O song. We are now rehearsing to get ready for touring later this year, new songs are also in the making and pre-production will probably start in the winter.

Hope to see you on the road."

Trivium's 'God Of War' contribution to Mark recording debut of drummer Nick Augusto

Florida metallers TRIVIUM will enter the studio this coming week to record a new song, entitled "Shattering The Skies Above", for the digital extended play (EP) soundtrack for the highly anticipated PlayStation3 (PS3) exclusive videogame "God of War III". The EP, titled "God of War: Blood & Metal", will be released in March via Roadrunner Records as a part of the "God of War III Ultimate Edition", and will feature four other previously unreleased songs from Roadrunner artists — KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, DREAM THEATER, OPETH and TAKING DAWN.

"Shattering The Skies Above" will mark the recording debut of drummer Nick Augusto, a former TRIVIUM drum tech and a member of the band MARUTA (Willowtip Records), who appears to have permanently replaced TRIVIUM's longtime skinsman Travis Smith (although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the group).

Smith sat out the second leg of the band's North American "Into The Mouth Of Hell" tour in order to take care of "some personal business" at home.

FM - SPECIAL GUEST NEWS!

We are delighted to announce that we have a special guest in the form of hugely talented James Ralphs, son of the legendary Mott The Hoople/Bad Company guitarist/songwriter Mick Ralphs.   James will be playing an acoustic set of his songs along with band mate Mat Griffiths with whom he has been collaborating for the past few years.
James Ralphs is a songwriter currently living in Brighton who writes pop music, plays piano, guitar and sings.  He listens to Pop, Reggae, Folk, Indie, Jazz, Blues, Dubstep, Hip-Hop and Rock.  Within his own music some might say that he takes his influences from artists such as Alex Turner, Jamie T, Jack Penate, Nizlopi, Bob Marley, Jason Mraz, Laura Marling and Mystery Jets.  We think James is destined for big things.  He is already causing a stir within the music industry and has studio time coming up at the world famous Abbey Road Studios later this year. We love James, so will you.

FM will play a full electric set at 9.00pm
The guitar “give away” will take place as soon as the boys have had a quick rub down and a beer after their live set.  Your numbered admission ticket is what you need to keep safe and sound as the ticket stubs will be used for the draw.  Match your ticket with the stub drawn by the band and Bingo! -  you’re a winner!  You must be present at the time the draw is made to win the prizes.  Before the main prize we are also giving away the book that was used for jotting things down during the recording of “Metropolis”.  It also contains all the hand-written lyrics to the songs on the album.  As with the guitar, the boys will be more than happy to sign it if the lucky winner wants.

After that it will be at least an hour of mayhem on the decks with DJ Juppy spinning all his and your favourite rock tunes.  As The Superbowl coincides with the Launch Party, American Football fans will be delighted that we have managed to persuade the powers that be at The Roadhouse to keep the club open for this momentous sporting event.
So it’s looking very much like you’d all better remember to throw a sickie at work on the Monday as this will be a very late/drunken/riotous affair.
Not got a ticket yet?  Don’t leave it too long and end up being disappointed! You have been warned!!!.

Hey everyone,

It's been a while! But Jackviper are back, and we are ready to kick some fuckin ass! We're currently searching for a vocalist. More on that below but first...

...As you probably noticed from the lack of activity on the old website (we now have a brand spanking new one...check out (http://www.jackviper.com) we decided to take a break from music in 2009. What started in 2005 as an epic adventure of four friends on the road, in the end became a frustrating battle to get industry attention, and when it got to that stage the fun went out of it and what mattered, the music, seemed to be the last thing we got the time to concentrate on.

Parting ways with Jay R was a sad time and a difficult decision, but getting the legendary Dave "Dominator" (who joined us on vocals during our second tour with LA Guns) in as a permanent vocalist did give us new fire for the music. But after several shows and many hours in the recording studio, the frustration with the industry set back in and we decided the healthiest thing to do would be to take a break from music totally until we re-discovered our passion for the it, the fun came back, and it felt like it did at the start of it all.

Turns out it was the best thing we could have done because we're all totally recharged, can't wait to play some fuckin music, and restart the Viper's quest for world domination.

Hope you guys still want to join us for the ride.

Dave "Dominator"  misses playing the music he wrote with his old band Juice (awesome band by the way) so he is going to go back to that, and so begins our search to find the ultimate front man! If you guys could spread the word on message boards, myspace, twitter, facebook, etc that would be awesome, and if you know anyone who might fit the bill, please get them to contact us. Here's what we are looking for...

We need a flamboyant, extrovert frontman with lots of live experience who can sing like a muthafucka, and can entertain the crowd like the legends. If you’re interested or you know anyone who fits the bill, please contact us via www.jackviper.com and send us links of any mp3’s of you/them singing and also links to photos and / or youtube videos.

The vocal style of the singer will determine the direction we take so don't worry if Jackviper's back catalogue doesn't exactly suit your vocal style. We are looking for singers influenced by any of the following bands or vocalists.

Freddy MercuryAxl RoseMarilyn Manson, Journey, Queen, Scott WeilandWednesday 13AerosmithBon JoviVan Halen.  We rehearse in West London and we will need you to be available at least once a week for rehearsals.

Its great to be back guys, and thanks for all your support along the way, looking forward to getting back out on the road and partying with you crazy muthafuckas, lets do it!!!

Shredder, Kiss, Ferlanger.

p.s. We're now on twitter, so keep up to date with our latest goings on at:

OK so here is the first announcement of some more cool shows this year.  We head out on to the continent in September for some dates with Tim 'Ripper' Owens and our Norwegian brothers Thunderbolt.

Ripper is the guy who the film 'Rockstar' was written about, as his dream came true when he was asked to sing for Judas Priest.  When Rob Halford returned to Priest 'Ripper' then went on to front Iced Earth. He currently is the front man for Yngwie Malmsteen.

These are gonna be kick ass shows and will see COP venturing into new territory this tour namely Eastern Europe. Needless to say we can't wait to get out there any share a few beers with everyone!!

More dates to come so stay tuned!!!!

Jethro Tull Announce 2010 UK Tour

Jethro Tull will hit the road in the UK in March for a 23 date tour.   These shows will feature an assortment of ‘Best of Tull’ repertoire with some rare gems thrown in for good measure.  Support to be announced.

Ian says about this tour “Of all the music recorded by Jethro Tull over the years, there are several songs which have rarely, if ever, been performed in public. We look forward to introducing some of this material to the setlist in 2010 along with some of the tried and trusty favourites. Martin Barre and I, along with long-standing drummer Doane Perry and old friends David Goodier and John O'Hara will bring variety and depth to the concerts with the aid of a few forgotten musical instruments currently being dug out of the rusty skip and dusted down for action. (I know I put that Sousaphone somewhere safe....)”

Sententia

The year was 2006. The effects of Global Warming had made January feel eerily mild. Yet despite mild temperatures, Winter depression had still sunk into the minds of those who are so often tortured by inner turmoil and the defeat of life’s unbalancing challenges.

During this time, one artist became inspired to share her views and observations of such a human condition. It was at this time when Dede Booth founded the Bostonrock band, Sententia. Her vision, to create a unique blend of music accessible to any listener of rock whether it be progressive or alternative. Through this music, she would  exploit the suffering to search for inner peace and would  challenge the questions so many of us wish to find an answer to:

"What drives us to our actions?" "Where is the line that we will inevitably cross, and when will it happen?"  "Do we have what it takes to regain our humanity and live within a  balance of our minds and reality?"

By tapping into the darkness in our minds, Sententia’s music is both revealing by personal account but also distant to allow
listeners to interpret the music with their own experiences.  With a light brush stroke, Sententia premiered the Boston scene and released EP, “Fruition” (April, 2006); a sneak peak that dug into the surface of breakdown and catastrophe, and allowed listeners the voice and vision Sententia had sought out to explore.  The music and words from "Fruition" are both haunting and dark, and yet with a chill sent down one's spine, the album presents itself with melodic, instrumental passages fused with catchy choruses that create at least one ray of light.  The sudden, schizophrenic contrast from light to dark is what paved the start to the Sententia sound.  “This is just a glimpse of what's to come... It would be interesting to see where they go.” (Ron Fuchs – Prognaut.com)

Now two years later, Sententia is back with their first full length record.  Despite band member changes, Dede has stayed dedicated to Sententia's purpose to create a gothic music that digs deep into our subconscious.  This debut record, "The Center in the Sand", conceptualizes the struggle to find balance.  Through 11 tracks, a person journeys through the depths of complete chaos having to choose between life and death once realizing that either realm can be both pleasing and displeasing at times.  Through moments of addiction, self-indulgence, broken relationships, and even a look into their own self-documented eulogy, the person is consumed in searching for the perfect balance; that center within a microscopic grain of sand that is impossible to find.  Their finding or lack there of, leads to so much frustration and fear, until it is learned that the center is unattainable.  The closest we will ever get is by accepting what is right in front of us.  We are too afraid to grab onto what we have, but it is only during this 'in the moment' vision when we can truly find some sort of balance.  Does the character discover this or have they been swallowed up by their own demise? Listening to the album will only answer that question.

Tracklisting : 01. What You Decide, 02. Crippled, 03. The Center In The Sand, 04. Weep, 05. Fall Behind, 06. Nothing Less Than Ordinary, 07. Surrender, 08. I Don't Recall, 09. Don't Be Afraid, 10. Blue Skies, 11. Will You Embrace This.

Ronnie James Dio - Health Update

After a few hiccups between Christmas and New Year’s, such as a blood clot, a trip to the emergency room, and a three day stay at the hospital, we had a quiet holiday spent with family and close friends. Ronnie and I just returned from Houston, where Ronnie had his third chemo treatment, and all seems to be going well. Ronnie and Simon Wright went to see Avatar, which he thought was amazing! He has also been writing more chapters for his book.

While at M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre on his second trip, he met a DIO fan named Carmen who has been having treatment every other day for a year, and is eagerly awaiting a bone marrow transplant. Ronnie and Carmen have become fast friends. Carmen is a very positive happy person whose existence, like Ronnie’s, depends heavily on music and sports. On the third trip, we also met his mom and sister, whose total support is so important to all cancer patients. They have become part of our family as well.

The support we get from all of our friends and fans is such a blessing to Ronnie and I.

Ronnie, Geezer, Tony and Vinny will be doing some interviews in the upcoming weeks to be included in the new 30th anniversary Heaven and Hell DVD due out sometime this year.

We would like to thank Simon Wright, who has been such a help with everything and a good, good friend, of course our doctor at MD Anderson, Dr. Ajani, and especially our family doctor, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, without whose quick diagnosis and help with all the nurses and hospitals, we would be lost. His care and compassion is unwavering.

Thanks again to all of Ronnie’s friends and fans, and --- by the way ---- Ronnie has not lost any hair yet!

Wendy Dio

SPINEFARM UK artists Rammstein, Children Of Bodom, and Five Finger Death Punch are all set to make headline appearances at major UK music festivals in 2010.

This is the first time that any of these acts have topped the bill at a festival in the UK, although COB have appeared on the bill at both the Bloodstock & Download events in 2005 & 2008 respectively.

Rammstein, following a three-date UK arena run in February, will headline the second Sonisphere event in the UK alongside the mighty Iron Maiden; Sonisphere will take place at Knebworth between Friday 30th July and Sunday 1st August 2010.

Children Of Bodom, currently preparing material for a new studio album, will co-headline Bloodstock Open Air, sharing the stage with Fear Factory on Saturday 14th August; Bloodstock Open Air takes place at Catton Hall, Derby, between Friday 13th and Sunday 15th August 2010.

Five Finger Death Punch, whose first headline tour of the UK in November 2009 proved a sell-out from start to finish, will headline Friday 12th March at Hammerfest; Hammerfest takes place at Prestatyn in North Wales between Thursday 11th March and Saturday 13th March 2010.

FINNISH POWER METALLERS Sonata Arctica will have a brand new collection made available in the UK on February 8th 2010 via Spinefarm Records UK.

Titled ‘Takatalvi’, this 11 track album comprises of a mix of original, cover and acoustic material previously only available on Japanese EPs; featured tracks include the first ever version of ‘San Sebastian’ (which later appeared on the band’s 2001 album ‘Silence’) plus covers of tracks by artists such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and the Scorpions.

Also on February 8th, Spinefarm Records UK will be releasing two classic titles from the Sonata catalogue; ‘Songs of Silence – Live in Tokyo’ & ‘Winterheart’s Guild’ are the albums in question, dating from 2002 and 2003 respectively, and this is the first time that either record will have been officially released in the UK...

‘Songs of Silence – Live In Tokyo’ features 13 live tracks drawn from the band’s first two albums (‘Ecliptica’ & ‘Silence’); including such classic material as ‘FullMoon’, ‘Black Sheep’, ‘Wolf & Raven’, ‘My Land’ & ‘Replica’, the album was recorded at Shibuya On Air East in Tokyo on September 4th 2001.

‘Winterheart’s Guild’, meanwhile, saw the group adopting a generally heavier approach, as well as making good use of keyboard maestro Jens Johansson (Stratovarius); amongst the 13 featured tracks are such melodic metal anthems as Victoria’s Secret’ , ‘The Cage’ & ‘Ruins Of My Life’.

‘Winterheart’s Guild’ is also the name of a long-awaited RPG game by Zelian inspired by and designed in collaboration with Sonata Arctica themselves.

With CHILDREN OF BODOM and FEAR FACTORY’s co-headline slot announced at the end of last year, BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010 continues to impress with the addition of GOJIRA to the line up. The French Metal monsters will be making their ONLY UK APPEARANCE OF 2010 at Catton Hall this summer. Having ended last year with a mammoth tour of the USA with Metallica and Lamb Of God, the band previously announced that 2010 would see the band take a time off, but have decided to make an exception to be part of this year’s very special 10th anniversary event. With a reputation for fiercely heavy and perfectly executed live shows, GOJIRA’s set promises to be one of the festival highlights, and your only chance to catch the band on these shores this year.

LOOK OUT FOR A SPECIAL HEADLINER ANNOUNCEMENT ON FEB 1ST 2010!!!

The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.

After their highly acclaimed “Inflict The Inevitable” debut album (2006) and successful touring in selected parts of Europe, Dutch based FUELBLOODED have joined My Kingdom Music for the release of their new devastating album, titled “Off The Face Of The Earth”, announced for February 5th, 2010. With their unique brand of melodic thrash/death metal in the style of TRIVIUM, DARKANE & MEGADETH, a.o, FUELBLOODED represents the new Metal Millennium. A very experienced combo nonetheless, delivering a dynamic slab of metal that is bound to turn some heads in the global metal community. While staying true to their melodic thrash/death metal roots, FUELBLOODED explore new territory with this new effort. Mixed and mastered by producer extraordinaire JONAS KJELLGREN (SCAR SYMMETRY, THE ABSENCE, CARNAL FORGE, a.o.), “Off the Face of the Earth” not only has a powerful and crystal clear sound, it also offers a range of songs with a variety rarely heard on metal albums these days.

Comments FUELBLOODED: “we’re very happy to be working together with MY KINGDOM MUSIC for the release of our new album. It took some time to find the right ‘partner in crime’, but we feel confident that MY KINGDOM MUSIC will do a great job of bringing this album to the metal masses. We feel ‘Off The Face Of The Earth’ is a step up from our first album and we cannot wait for everyone to hear it! We’re getiing in shape as we speak, cause we wanna tour as much as we can after the release. See you somewhere on the road in 2010!"

The truly unique Moth Circus have signed a worldwide record deal with Rocksector, for the release of their debut official album "Sideshow Sweetheart". This album is packed full of groove-laden songs with hooks that get inside your mind like an alien invasion.. & stay there!

Hailing from Norway, the band visited the UK to play tour dates here for the first time in 2009 & started working with Rocksector towards this deal. The pre-production tracks for the album were exceptional & live up to the uniqueness that only Moth Circus have. Expect madness, creativity, a sense of humour, catchy, groove-laden hard rock. In the band's own words they sound like "Pamela Anderson masturbating at a freak show".

"Sideshow Sweetheart" is planned for release in May, followed up with a UK tour in July.

ARMORED SAINT announces tracklisting for new album “La Raza”!

Los Angeles metal legends ARMORED SAINT are pleased to announce the tracklisting for the band's recently completed album La Raza, the band's first new album since 2001's Nod to the Old School. La Raza was recorded at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA, was produced by bassist Joey Vera, and engineered by Bryan Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss.

 La Raza tracklisting
1. Loose Cannon
 2. Head On
 3. Left Hook from Right Field
 4. Get Off the Fence
 5. Chilled
 6. La Raza
 7. Black Feet
 8. Little Monkey
 9. Blues
 10. Bandit Country

Bassist, producer, and founding member Joey Vera comments on the unique recording process for La Raza:
“We used nothing but analog gear, most of which was custom built by Rupert Neve for Bryan Carlstrom. We hit every signal (drum mics, guitars, vocals) with custom or vintage analog gear before recording into Pro Tools. We even used rare vintage amps for most of the guitar overdubs. At mix time, we mixed on an SSL 4000E console and went to a 1 inch tape reel (one of only 2 on the west coast) for our final masters. Uh…you DO know what tape is, don't you?

What does this all mean? It means we spit in the ear of the age of the mp3, teenie, tiny ear bud listening culture that has turned its back on what it means to experience music. This record is FAT. We mean, obese! Full on cardiovascular failure stuff! Old School, Baby!”

La Raza will be available in the UK on March, 16th!

SIX FEET UNDER reveal first song of Graveyard Classics 3!

Tampa, FL's kings of groove laden Death Metal Six Feet Under are back with their 3rd installment of the band's cover series, ‘Graveyard Classics 3’, due out on Metal Blade Records January 18th 2010. ‘Graveyard Classics 3’ was recorded at D.O.I.

Track listing for ‘Graveyard Classics 3’:
1. A Dangerous Meeting - Mercyful Fate
 2. Metal on Metal - Anvil

Behemoth to Sweden Rock!
Polish Behemoth is a band that lives up to its name. The bands hybrid of death and black metal truly sounds like a beast, especially on stage: the quartet's touring schedule is constantly filled to the brim, so it is a well-oiled machinery that comes to set our stage on fire. The band last visited us in 2005, and has since released the critically acclaimed albums "The Apostasy" (2007) and "Evangelion" (2009). Behemoth recently won a massive nine (!) categories in the British magazine Terrorizer's yearly readers' poll - including the category of best live band of 2009. According to the interview with frontman Nergal in Sweden Rock Magazine #68, there's a logical explanation to the band's constant hunger for being on stage: - We're addicted to the touring and the adrenaline. We can't help it. We feed off the energy of the audience. Prepare to be mauled.
